Selling On eBay

Ebay is an interesting one. On one hand E-bay is a great place to market products. It's like an international garage sale. There are people that are literally selling thousands of products a month on e-bay and doing fairly well (income wise).

It’s reported that over 724,000 Americans are said to be making their living on eBay. This home business will allow you to earn a living and get you out of the rut of 9-to-5 office work. This can be a profitable home business opportunity, it’s cheap to setup, all you need is a computer and internet connection and you are good to go.

Like all businesses you must first have a plan so before you jump straight in, get on the net and look for one of the more respected starter guides. Make sure it covers all your questions and will actually aid you in starting your very own eBay business.

On the other hand, the trick with ebay is finding the right product to sell. No one, or any course that I have seen actually shows that. If it did, there would be too much competition with everyone trying to sell the exact same thing.

There are many courses out there that claim to show people how to make a full time living selling items on ebay. While this may be true, they fail to tell people how saturated the markets are and how hard it is to compete with prices.

The good thing about ebay is you don’t need to buy expensive programs or spend thousands of dollars setting up your business. If you have a few ideas on products that may be suitable to base a home business around, then trial them for a few weeks before committing to a large order. If it works than consider taking it to the next level. The verdict – has potential, but there is no proven formula, I prefer my businesses to be a little more secure.

Envelope Stuffing

I’m still amazed that the government hasn’t passed legislation to make envelope stuffing businesses illegal. This has got to be one of the biggest scams of all time. If you look at logically why would people pay you $2 or more to stuff envelopes when there are machines that do it for a few cents. I'm not trying to knock people that have tried this program, I have tried a few back in my inexperienced days. However, I am strongly warning the public not to ever fall for this, for it is nothing more than a scam and it's very falsely advertised.

How it works : When you pay the "registration fee" the company sends you a brochure and tells you to advertise to others and at the end of your ad tell them if they want more information to send you $2 and a SASE. So that is how you don't pay for supplies and make $2 for every envelope sent. Then you send the person an information packet on how to do the same thing and ask for a one-time registration fee. No one wins and you chalk it up as an experience because these companies loose contact very quickly when its time for the refund.

You see the trick now? I don't care if its "legitimate", "data-entry", or "guaranteed". They are all the same and I strongly advise against having anything to do with it. Envelope stuffing is not a genuine business.

Specialty Merchandise Corporation (SMC)

Specialty Merchandise Corporation is a business opportunity that allows their members to access several thousand products at wholesale price. SMC has been around for many years. With it's strong name, I would expect to see it for many more.

They cover products from jewelry to general merchandise. In my opinion, most of their merchandise has no demand and it's all manufactured by companies that most people aren't familiar with.

I have never talked to anyone who has actually made money with SMC, and I personally believe that it would be very, very hard to make a livable income with SMC. Four reasons why I personally would not join Specialty Merchandise Corporation are:

1. There is way too much competition, plus there are a lot of copy cat companies like SMC.
2. The profit margin is way too small. After your overhead, you would literally need to sell hundreds of products every week just to make a decent income.
3. The demand for these products are very low. When was the last time you bought something from SMC?
4. The marketing style is very twentieth century. Yeah, ok they offer duplicate websites. However, search engines don't accept affiliate sites into their database. And you have no leeway against competitors.

I'm not saying it's impossible to make money with Specialty Merchandise Corporation. But unless your one of the select few doing the recruiting it is extremely difficult and even impractical.

Lotto International

False International lottery claims are usually associated with spam emails telling them they have already won a big jackpot in an international lottery that they never even entered. What an amazing stroke of luck.

Their goal is to get your personal information and also get you to send them an up front fee to cover taxes, customs, wire transfers, and so on. You'll not only be a victim of identity theft in the coming weeks, but you'll be out any money you send them as well.

This is similar to the Nigerian 419 scam, promises of millions in exchange for a few thousand dollars in up front costs, money you'll never see again. Just remember that Lotto International or anyone else isn't going to mass mail you millions of dollars for a contest you never entered. These types of scams play on people’s greed and naiveté. I would avoid every international lottery or any email with the name lotto international on it.

Remember that no legitimate gambling company is going to pick someone out of the clear blue and give them a ridiculous sum of money. On the contrary, there are some International lotteries, from which people from many countries, typically Europe, can enter. I couldn't find any of the traditional, legitimate international lotteries doing business on the Internet however. This is mainly because lotteries don't accept credit cards for tickets, as credit card fraud would be sky high. I guess gambling and fraud goes hand-in-hand, go figure.

Currency Exchange

Currency Exchange or foreign exchange is a business in which currency of one country is expressed in another country’s currency and fee or exchange rate is charged for this trading. This exchange rate between two currencies specifies how much one currency is worth in terms of the other.

Currency exchange is required when people travel from one country to other. They either go to bank or currency exchange bureau to convert their home currency to the other country’s currency so they can pay for buying goods or services in the other country. Currency exchange is also important for businesses outside home country. For example, if you export goods to foreign countries and gets payment in that country’s currency, your money is converted to your country’s currency through currency exchange service.

Currency exchange is also required by investors and speculators to trade in foreign investment. Commercial and investment banks trade currencies as a service for their commercial banking, deposit and lending customer.

Currency exchange is always done with currency pairs like EUR/ESD, the first one is the base currency and the second one is the quote currency. The currency pair is used as an instrument, to be bought or sold.

However, currency exchange is not a get rich quick business, and a lot of times your money is not insured/secured by any agency or government.

Currency exchange trade goes through a three-step process:

• First the traders communicate the currency pair and the amount they would like to trade with another dealer.
• Then the dealer responds with a bid and an ask price.
• The traders respond to the bid and ask price with Buy, Sell or Refuse.
• The transaction occurs if the final response is Buy or Sell.

Get Paid To Surf

I was asked if this sort of business is a scam and the simple answer is no. What can be misleading is the sort of returns this business can generate. Getting paid to surf has been around the net for years. It's just another way to promote companies' advertisements. There has never been any real money in this and there never will be.

This is not a very good money making opportunity. The return to effort ratio is lousy, in fact the most money made with this is maybe a pitful $20. And that's from the people that took this seriously and decided to spend hours and hours clicking through ads. Do you really want to spend hours with ads in your face all day for a mere $15 or $20? Of course not.

Now they do offer reselling programs, however there is a very low response rate for obvious reasons. The system is just completely ineffective, and just another way for companies to advertise.

The scoop: I believe that this is a very deceptive program and it is not even worth writing a full article.

Choose To Be Rich is another program written by Robert Kiyosaki. The course explains how Robert became wealthy and the type of relationships you should create with CPA’s, Tax Attorneys, Financial Planners, etc.

There is a lot of repetition in this course if you have read “Rich Dad Poor Dad”. There are several mind opening ways of how you should handle your finances and view your income.

I like Robert Kiyosaki and agree with most of his views on money. But like most financial gurus, there are no specific techniques on how to actually make money. Viewing your financial goals differently is only the first step to becoming successful.

It boils down to the nuts and bolts of creating an income. That is where success really begins. I recommend his program, but not as a money making course.

Jim Rohn Method

Jim Rohn is a philosopher, motivational counselor, business executive, and bestselling author. He has been recognized as the greatest motivational speaker of all time. He is a recipient of the 1985 National Speakers Association CPAE Award. He has authored over 17 different books, audio, and video programs. Rohn has been internationally hailed over the years as one of the most influential thinkers of our time.

Obviously, Jim Rohn has an excellent reputation and I do agree with some of the principles that are tought. If your looking for philosophy then he wouldn’t be a bad choice. But the problem with motivational hype is that it has to be backed with nuts and bolts of creating an income or it is of no value. Motivation is the drive to find the answer, but not the answer itself.

The scoop: The world is full of philosophy and philosophers, but lacks pure money making secrets. Jim Rohn has excellent products to provide. But if your looking to become successful, just motivation will not cut it.

3. With this being sold in more and more places on the net do you think people are going to want to set out a certain time to buy it from you?
4. Some of the top sellers, including people I personally know barely made a few hundred bucks a month.
5. These things just don't last, and most people never make anything.
6. This is not really worth writing any more reasons on this opportunity.
